"We want to express what a wonderful and lasting relationship we started with TimberStone in the spring of 2008.
At the time we were building our home in a new location, we longed for a waterfall feature. We were somewhat skeptical because of our previous labor intense experience with one and we still had green water. There has to be an easier system. We decided to check it out.
We looked at landscaping ads on the internet. We choose several and met with them. Some did not return calls and the ones that returned our calls were vague about what they would do for the estimated price.
After frustrating failed attempts on our own, we visited a rock and stone center in hopes of recommendations. They gave us names and phone numbers to whom they would email about our inquiry. Immediately we received a call from Dave with TimberStone Group. What a Delight! He came out to the property and we discussed things that we had in mind. He gave us many suggestions for the waterfall feature and how to tie-in a design of the patio. A few days later, we met Dave and he showed us on his laptop a 3D picture showing many angles of the three different size waterfalls, pond, and walk over bridge, with a patio design. He helped us make choices of stone and rock by sending us pictures of his previous work.
Shortly thereafter, Dave sent us a contract listing all materials that would be needed for the job and the prices. Also, Dave outlined stages of when and how it would be built. We were impressed to say the least.
From the beginning to the end of the project, everything went according to plan. It was a well orchestrated family project. They were energetic, friendly, and fun people. We enjoyed chatting and watching them construct our back yard. It was obvious they were good at what they did and cared about pleasing us. The way that they constructed the water garden made it so easy to maintain!
Through the whole project and still now, Dave is accessible and responsive with open communication. The waterfall and patio has transformed our backyard into a beautiful and soothing haven which we enjoy daily and from many outdoor and indoor locations.

The first time we met Dave Hefren, of TimberStone Group, we felt sure his company was the one we wanted for our project. Dave showed such professionalism, was very prompt in responding to us and was willing to help us work within our budget. We told him what we wanted and he envisioned it immediately and came back with the 3D renderings on his laptop to show us exactly what the result would be. When he was asked to quote a particular type of stone, cut of stone, or certain pavers, etc., he always made us feel that he truly enjoyed the task! He interfaces wonderfully with his clients and we both feel this was a great experience to get to know someone with such work ethics, dedication and enthusiasm.
We were also impressed that his company is state-certified, maintains excellent standing with the BBB, has a Virginia Class ‘A’ Contractor’s license and carries insurance and worker’s compensation.
Regarding his work crew, they were very conscientious and dedicated about what they were building. They are a very nice group, and the leader (Mark) is a wonder to behold in handling his equipment and leading his team….a wonderful person who loves his work. You feel that Mark or Dave would be your ideal neighbor or friend.
As a quick note, we requested some additional work to be done before they left and that cost came in very reasonably.
We both very highly recommend TimberStone and we will certainly use them for any future projects we may have. Our finished project exceeded our greatest expectation. We were truly lucky to have found this great team.”
